Nicaea Today

NICAEA TODAY

To commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (AD 325) and in celebration of the feast of St. Athanasius the Apostolic (7 Pashons, 15 May), the St Athanasius and St Cyril Theological School will host a theological conference for scholars and interested lay Orthodox Christians in North America. The focus of the conference will be to answer the question, “How Can We Respond to the Contemporary Challenges Today in Light of the Council of Nicaea?”

First proposed and sponsored by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II and to be hosted by His Eminence Metropolitan Serapion of Los Angeles, it is expected that this event will be attended by many of the Coptic Orthodox bishops and clergy serving in North America, and by delegates from their communities. The conference program will feature three days of keynote lectures and academic papers by select clerical and lay scholars of the early church.

Conference information: 12-15 May 2025

Conference Location: ACTS Campus, 3901 Westerly Place, Newport Beach, CA 92660
