Have You Heard About the ACTS Digital Theological Library?

St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School (ACTS) is home to an incredible selection of Coptic, and non-Coptic religious texts available for student use, not only through our physical library but also through the Digital Theological Library (DTL). The DTL provides ACTS students with an impressive range of academic sources to utilize in their studies, including over 525,000 books, 35,000,000 articles, 21,000 journals, and 150 databases.

As a member of the DTL, students have even greater resources for their theses and academic works. Subjects include all major religions, as well as Christology, Comparative Theology, History of Christianity, Pastoral Care, Sacred Music, Dead Sea Scrolls, the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, and Christian Scriptures/ New Testament. These resources connect our students’ understanding of Orthodox Christianity to the greater religious and social context, providing a holistic approach to theological education.

Key features include the aforementioned articles and resources, as well as access to three key databases which most major journals in religious studies utilize: JSTOR Religion Collections, Project MUSE Philosophy and Religion, and ProQuest Religion. The DTL also participates in WorldCat.org, a database that allows users to search collections of libraries both locally and internationally.

The online library also provides students with important resource guides pertaining to bibliographies and citation styles. Students are able to access the DTL through their Populi account or through the ACTS website homepage.
