How do I apply?

Fill out an online application here. The application fee is $50. Once submitted your application will be reviewed within 5-10 business days.

When can I enroll in courses after I apply?

If you have applied and been accepted before the add/drop date of the current semester you can enroll and start courses immediately. Otherwise you will have to wait until registration has opened for the next semester of courses. ACTS has 3 semesters annually. View the Academic Calendar.

Do I have to have a Bachelor level degree to take courses?

If you are concurrently enrolled in an undergraduate program while taking courses with ACTS please provide us a copy of your unofficial transcript for verification. If you have neither obtained your bachelors nor are concurrently enrolled in an undergraduate program you may take courses for personal enrichment only.

Is St. Athanasius and St. Cyril Coptic Orthodox Theological School accredited?

Do you have on campus living?

Not at this time.  However all of our courses can be completed virtually, except for our week-long intensives and our study abroad courses. Students who are interested in attending an intensive are encouraged to book accommodations at any number of local hotels.

What is the workload for 1 course?

Approximately 48 hours of lectures plus additional time for self study, assignments, and readings (typically spread over 16 weeks)

How many hours per week?

Our standard courses typically have 3 hours of lecture per week, intensives and self paced courses are unique, see course description(s) for more information

Can the degree be completed online?

Yes, 100%. 

Does ACTS accept transfer credits?

Transfer credits are evaluated on a case by case basis by the Chief Academic Officer. At a minimum, transfer credits must come from an accredited institution, the courses must be at the graduate level and the student must supply all information including transcript, course descriptions, syllabi, and any other requested information.

How can I audit a course?

Register for the course as an auditor, pay a $400 flat fee, gain access to all materials without submitting any assignments or taking any exams. This is for personal enrichment only and will not count towards a degree.

Current Student FAQ

How do I register for classes?

Once you have applied and been accepted to the school you will obtain a Populi login (student portal). In that student portal, when registration is open, an alert on your dashboard will say “Registration is now open” please click on it and add the courses you wish to take, once you are finished make sure to click “Save Changes”. An email alert will be sent confirming your enrollment.

How do I access the library?

Current students please email for the form to fill out. Once completed, students will receive a library card from the Claremont School of Theology (our partner) and you will have access to the books and databases within CST as well as their partnerships around the world.

I would like to drop past the add/drop date, how can this be accomplished?

I need an extension on my course work, how do I do this?

Please contact your professor, it is at their full discretion to allow extensions.
