Certificate Programs

  • Photo ID

  • General information (Name, Address, Email)

  • Statement of Purpose (Prompt within application)

  • Official Undergraduate Transcripts (transcript evaluations required for degrees earned outside of the U.S.**)

    • Applicants must either:

      • (1) have completed a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and provide official transcripts, or

      • (2) have completed 50% or more of their bachelor's degree and co-enroll in a certificate program. Applicants must provide official transcripts to show academic progress in their bachelor's degree. A student cannot graduate with their certificate without first completing their bachelor's degree, nor can they transfer any units from the certificate program(s) into the M.T.S. program until they have successfully completed their bachelor's degree.

  • International applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Our institution code is C362, ACTS requires a minimum score of 550, 213 for the computer-based exam or 80 for the Internet-based exam.


Master of Theological Studies: M.T.S.

  • Bachelors Degree in any field

  • Photo ID

  • General information (Name, Address, Email)

  • Bachelor level degree required in any field

  • Official Undergraduate Transcripts (transcript evaluations required for degrees earned outside of the U.S.**)

  • Resumé or curriculum vitae 

  • Two letters of recommendation: 1 from professional source, 1 from spiritual source

  • International applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Our institution code is C362, ACTS requires a minimum score of 550, 213 for the computer-based exam or 80 for the Internet-based exam.


Master of Theology: Th.M.

  • Master of Theological Studies Degree or equivalent

  • Photo ID

  • Official Graduate Transcripts (transcript evaluations required for degrees earned outside of the U.S.**)

  • Resumé or curriculum vitae 

  • Two letters of recommendation: 1 from professional source, 1 from spiritual source

  • International applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Our institution code is C362, ACTS requires a minimum score of 550, 213 for the computer-based exam or 80 for the Internet-based exam.

  • Thesis Proposal: 4–5 pages. In the proposal, students are expected to outline the problem to be investigated and give a sense of what they expect to find. The proposal must also include a working title and a bibliography, which is not intended to be exhaustive but must show that the student is familiar with the main works in the field, in particular those that will be of value to the project.

Note: Applicants whose academic preparation falls short of program prerequisites or expectations because they have not completed the Master of Theological Studies program at ACTS, may be offered admission into the Master of Theological Studies program at ACTS for one year before reapplying into the Master of Theology program.

**An ACTS applicant who has earned a degree from an institution outside of the U.S. would arrange to have their transcripts evaluated directly from a transcript evaluation service. We recommend the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute’s (ACEI) basic proof of degree-level graduation evaluation report. Applicants who need their transcripts evaluated are eligible for an application fee waiver. Contact us if you have any questions.
